this especially is an update to fix a severe error. Joomla 5.3.0 changed method signatures of plugins to the new and native version since Joomla 4. With this change a call to one of this methods by an extension has to happen with this new signature, else there happens a big error. Exactly that has happened to BwPostman, saving a newsletter was no more possible and ended with a white screen, if the plugin NewsletterContent was activated. Health-related I could fix this with the new version 4.3.2 of BwPostman but now. Luckily a workaround was found and provided at the forum, so that the time until this release could be bridged.

Improvements

• Ensure JavaScript only gets input checkboxes of recipients while checking if a recipient is selected to prevent false negatives. But the server side check was always correct.
• Sharpen rejection of problematic mail addresses on newsletter subscription and improve error message. Now mail addresses are rejected, if the mailbox is full. It is very rare that this happens for a regular visitor, but it often happens, if this mail address is used by spammer. In each case refusal of newsletters is reduced by this mail addresses.

Bugfixes

• Plugin NewsletterContent caused an error at saving a newsletter with legacy method calls, so switch to native J4 plugin calls.

Do You perhaps use BwPostman in another language? Or would You do so? Translators are always welcome! Meanwhile there is a project BwPostman at Transifex and now it is easier than ever to help translating. You only need an account at Transifex. Then I am able to invite You to the team. If You already have an account at Transifex, the You are able to ask directly for acceptance to the team for one or more languages.

I would illustrate the manual of BwPostman (PDF and web), because a picture paints a thousand words. But that is a lot of work and really not my core competence, to put it mildly. Here each help is more than welcome!

Perhaps You feel called on helping my tester and me? You have ideas to usability? Or new proposals, how to improve BwPostman? Just give it to me! dies ist vor allem ein Update um einen gravierenden Fehler zu beheben. Joomla hat mit der Version 5.3.0 die Signaturen von Methoden zu Plugins auf die native Version seit Joomla 4 geändert. Damit muss ein Aufruf dieser Methoden durch Erweiterungen eben dieser neuen Signatur folgen, sonst gibt es einen dicken Fehler. Eben das ist bei BwPostman passiert, ein Newsletter konnte nicht mehr gespeichert werden und mündete in einem weißen Bildschirm, wenn das Plugin NewsletterContent aktiviert war. Gesundheitsbedingt konnte ich das erst jetzt mit dieser neuen Version 4.3.2 von BwPostman beheben. Glücklicherweise konnte im Forum ein Workaround gefunden und angeboten werden, so dass die Wartezeit bis zu dieser neuen Version überbrückt werden konnte.

Verbesserungen

• Sichergestellt, dass das Javascript nur die Checkboxen der Empfänger bekommt, um zu prüfen, ob ein Empfänger ausgewählt ist, um ausgewählte andere Checkboxen aus der Prüfung auszuschließen. Die Server-seitige Prüfung funktionierte aber immer korrekt.
• Das Zurückweisen von problematischen Mailadressen bei der Registrierung zum Newsletter wurde verschärft und die Meldungen dazu verbessert. Jetzt werden auch Mail-Adressen zurück gewiesen wenn das Postfach voll ist. Es ist äußerst selten, dass das für einen regulären Besucher passiert, aber es ist sehr oft der Fall, wenn die Mailadresse von Spammern verwendet wird. Auf jeden Fall werden damit die Rückläufer von Newslettern um diese Mailadressen reduziert.

Bugfixes

•  Das Plugin NewsletterContent erzeugte beim Speichern eines Newsletters einen Fehler mit einem Aufruf einer Methode nach altem Schema, der nun auf das neue native Schema seit J4 umgestellt ist.

Und wie gewohnt hier noch mein Hilfeaufruf:

Verwendest Du BwPostman vielleicht in einer anderen Sprache? Oder würdest es gerne? Übersetzer sind jedenfalls immer gerne gesehen! Da es BwPostman jetzt auch bei Transifex gibt, ist es noch einfacher geworden mitzuhelfen. Du benötigt dazu nur einen Account bei Transifex. Dann kann ich Dich ins Team einladen. Wenn Du schon einen  Account bei Transifex hast, dann kannst Du auch direkt die Aufnahme ins Team für eine oder mehrere Sprachen anfragen.

Ich hätte auch gerne Bilder im Handbuch zu BwPostman (PDF und Web), denn ein Bild sagt bekanntlich mehr als tausend Worte. Aber das ist eine Menge Arbeit und nicht so meine Kern-Kompetenz, um es gelinde auszudrücken. Hier ist mir jede Hilfe mehr als willkommen!

Vielleicht fühlst Du dich ja berufen, meinem Tester und mir ein wenig unter die Arme zu greifen?  Hast Du Ideen zur Usability, also der Bedienbarkeit?
